Surrealistic Space-Times Stimulating Super-Symmetric Sculptures

Interim 2009

Course Instructors:  Steven Zides and Gretchen S. Maultsby         Art Instructor:  Helen Correll

Since the late nineteenth century, the worlds of art and physics have become more abstract and intangible. Driven by convergences in space, time and matter, both disciplines have evolved into sublime manifestations of reality. In this interim class, students will be able to explore this new vision of reality by considering the interrelationships between modern physics and modern art. In addition to traditional sources of instruction, students will enhance their experience through professional art instruction, sketch-books and personal journals. Within the course itself, emphasis will be placed on collaborative and experiential learning including several off campus daytrips to regional galleries and art museums.
