In November of 2003, I had the opportunity to travel to Denmark and experience Denmark's international studies program, which operates entirely in English.  It was "inspiring".  I was "immersed" into the program, living with a Danish host family, and going to classes.  The opportunity to see the world from an entirely different perspective is invaluable; and a few of the biology programs seem excellent.  I'd like to encourage EVERY biology major to look into study abroad.  It can be done, even if you're planning to go to medical or dental school.  See your advisor to work out a schedule. And since your financial aid can be applied to the study abroad program, most of you can afford it too.

I've asked a few biology majors who studied abroad to describe their experiences.  Click on each link to the left to see their comments.

As for the courses I examined in Copenhagen, until it's re-done I'd skip "Genetics of Cell Differentiation".  Everything else I experienced seemed worthwhile.
