FAQ about "Pre-Med" at Wofford
|
"...Wofford is widely respected for its premedical program... There is no doubt that the sciences and particularly the biology major are 'top notch' at Wofford, and many students go on to medical school." - The Insider's Guide to the Colleges, 2009. "...Wofford College, a small Southern liberal arts school with 'an outstanding biology program' that produces 'a high percentage of students accepted into medical and dental school'." - Princeton Reveview's The Best 366 Colleges, 2008 edition. In a recent survey, approximately 10% of Wofford's graduates are involved in medicine, dentistry, or other health care fields. Others are faculty members in medical colleges such as the University of Virginia, the University of Tennessee, and Bowman Gray. In recent years, six to 10 percent of each graduating class has enrolled in medical or dental school. In fact, Wofford has earned the reputation as South Carolina's premiere "premedical" institution. Because 40% of Wofford's incoming freshmen report a plan to major in biology or chemistry and pursue careers in medicine or dentistry, we have quite a bit of support for students on these paths.
