Prof. Kay earned his bachelor degree from Princeton University and the M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in the History and Philosophy of Science.  At Wofford College, his courses include Science & Religion, BioMedical Ethics, Early Modern European Philosophy, Philosophy of Science, and African Philosophy.  A past president of the South Carolina Society of Philosophy, Prof. Kay is also a member of the Ethics Committee of Spartanburg Regional Medical Centers and the Bioethics Committee of the South Carolina Medical Association.

Prof. Kay served as director of the Wofford Community of Scholars summer research program for its first three years, and is now co-coordinator of the new Medical Humanities Program. Last summer he travelled to Prague in July to participate in the PATEFO theological conference where he will delivered a paper on religion and politics in America.
