Humanities 101-D

Prisoners of War: a Series of Encounters

Course Requirements:

I.  Attendance and Participation-- As a small seminar class, the success of this course depends on the attendance and active participation of everyone involved.  Discussions are opportunities for learning, but also imply obligations to contribute to the learning of others.

II.  Response Papers-- A principal focus of Humanities 101, as described in the College Catalogue, is the development of written composition skills.  The course will include five to six short writing assignments of 2-3 pages, that will be developed through a series of drafts and revisions.

III. Oral report-- As a brief introduction to oral communication skills, each student will deliver an oral report of about ten minutes providing historical and factual background for our readings.

IV. Readings and Films-- This seminar is involved in the College-wide "War" theme for this academic year.  In addition to assigned readings, you will will be expected to attend at least three of the Fall films associated with that theme.
