Prisoners of War: a Series of Encounters
Course Requirements:
I. Attendance and Participation--
As a small seminar class, the success of this course depends on the
attendance and active participation of everyone involved.
Discussions are opportunities for learning, but also imply obligations
to contribute to the learning of others.
II. Response Papers--
A principal focus of Humanities 101, as described in the College
Catalogue, is the development of written composition skills. The
course will include five to six short writing assignments of 2-3 pages,
that will be developed through a series of drafts and revisions.
III. Oral report-- As a
brief introduction to oral communication skills, each student will
deliver an oral report of about ten minutes providing historical and
factual background for our readings.
IV. Readings and Films--
This seminar is involved in the College-wide "War" theme for this
academic year. In addition to assigned readings, you will will be
expected to attend at least three of the Fall films associated with
that theme.
