| These last two pictures are of a recently dead red-shouldered hawk that we found on the Lake Conestee island. What a majestic bird -- it disturbed us all. We found no bullet hole or any other obvious trauma and speculated that this may be evidence of West Nile virus. I also found the remains of another bird, most likely a tufted titmouse, a few hundred yards away. |
