The Troubadour Series

2003-2004 Season

About the Series

The Troubadour Series at Wofford is named after Carl Sandburg, who  was called "the Old Troubadour" by Frank Lloyd Wright. Sandberg's home is located in Flat Rock.  He visited the Wofford campus on more than one occasion. He was an avid guitarist who wrote several poems inspired by the guitar and gutarists. On his deathbed in 1967, he requested one of the Segovia recordings he had listened to since the 1930s. For more information about Sandburg and Segovia, click here.

The Series is funded in part by Wofford College (the cultural affairs committee, the department of fine arts, the department of foreign languages and Sigma Delta Pi, Wofford's chapter of the national Spanish honor society), the Arts Partnership of Spartanburg, and an anonymous donor. It appreciates the support of the Music Foundation of Spartanburg, the North Carolina School of the Arts, the Guitar Foundation of America, the Foundation for the Performing Arts, and people like you who attend the programs.
