Shape Note Singing honors "Singin' Billy" Walker

"Shape-note" singers from throughout the Southeast will gather again at Wofford College in April 10, 2004, to pay tribute to Spartanburg native William "Singin' Billy" Walker (1809-1875), the man who first brought musical literacy to remote country churches around the South.

More than 100 singers are expected to participate in the Montgomery Room of the Burwell Building, Wofford campus, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
